Bond, not Bind….

In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its bond. So hold the hand of the person whom you love rather than expecting them to hold yours.” -unknown

    I like this quote….

It made me think of my father for some reason. My father worked hard every day to care and provide for his family. He worked with his hands doing tough manual labor. His hands seemed swollen and coarse with callus’. As a child he would hold my hand and it would feel like paws. He was young and strong, that is how I remember him. Like all kids I went through my phase where I felt I did not need him, his advice, or care. I am older now with grown children of my own. Last year I was going through some major personal issues. The weight heavy on my shoulders when I stopped by to say hello to my father. He could see that something was wrong, and I seemed lost. He came up to me and took my hands and held them in his, and said it is going to be alright. My father has been retired now for close to 20 years, he is old and looks frail. His hands though were now different, they were soft, warm, tender, soothing, reassuring and loving. It was as though I was again a scared small child looking to a parent for safety by holding their hand. I never considered his emotional strength, but it was there all along. I have done a lot of hand holding but it was nice to have mine held. This is the bond between a father and a son.

  2. I really like that one! And the bouquet.
